Wild Lettuce Plants (Medicinal Herb) – Bare Root
Fresh from Our Permaculture Gardens – Limited Seasonal Stock
Instead of pulling and discarding the many young wild lettuce plants that self-seed throughout our gardens, we’re offering them to those who’d love to grow their own medicinal herbs. These plants are freshly dug, shipped bare-root, and ready to thrive in your garden.
What is Wild Lettuce?
Wild lettuce (Lactuca virosa) has a long history of use as a natural medicinal herb. Sometimes called “opium lettuce” (though it contains no opiates), it produces a milky latex that has traditionally been valued for:
Easing restlessness and promoting relaxation.
Helping with mild aches and discomfort.
Supporting deeper, more restful sleep.
We’ve created a YouTube video showing how we process wild lettuce to extract and use its beneficial properties perfect if you want to learn how to use what you grow.
Why grow your own?
Ensure a chemical-free, naturally grown supply.
Harvest fresh when needed.
A fascinating addition to any medicinal garden or permaculture system.
Bare-Root Shipping Details
Plants are shipped bare-root, with roots wrapped in damp paper to keep them fresh.
Some wilting during postage is normal, simply plant them promptly and water well, and they bounce back quickly.
We dig and post early in the week to reduce the chance of plants being held at the post office over the weekend.
Sorry, we cannot ship live plants to WA, TAS, or NT due to quarantine restrictions.
